Closer To The Surface 25th anniversary concert

25 years ago saw the release of Jim Bizer’s first album, Closer To The Surface.  Join Jim and  some his musical friends; Jan Krist, Alan Finkbeiner, Randy Bizer and special guests Annie & Rod Capps as they present the entire album in a full-band format.  From the quiet intimacy of Before You Know It and The Ground Moves Under Our Feet to the anthemic Hold On To Me, the proto-funk of Be Alright and the rocking affirmation of the title track, it’ll be a trip – musically and emotionally.

An opening set will feature songs from everyone in the band – Jan & Alan, Annie & Rod, Randy & Jim (the Bizer Brothers) and a couple of Jim’s more recent songs.

Jim finds himself in demand as a sideman/session musician on acoustic/electric/bass guitars and piano and other keyboards. A music theory major at UM School of Music, he has produced music for television and radio and dabbled in film scoring.

For over 20 years, Jim has coordinated (and booked) MAMA’s Coffeehouse, a monthly acoustic music concert series at Birmingham Unitarian Church in suburban Detroit.
