Annie Bacon and Kyle Rasche present songs from “The Keeper” – February 17, 2023

Michigan songwriter Kyle Rasche (Chain of Lakes) and writer/songwriter Annie Bacon (Annie Bacon & Her Oshen, The Folk Opera) met for the first time in late October 2022.  Within minutes Kyle shared an idea for a musical he’d been germinating for years, and it exploded in Annie’s heart.  Less than 7 weeks and very little sleep later, they have a first draft of their debut full-length feature musical, The Keeper.

The story centers on The White Shoal Lighthouse, the western gate to the Straights of Mackinac, 7 miles offshore in Lake Michigan. As the winds of change churn in and around our Head Keeper and his skeleton crew, a story is woven with songs that draw as much from inimitable great lakes gales as from the deep, rich tradition of Michigan songtelling.
